About sitemaps in Qurioos

A sitemap is like a table of contents for your site, it lists important pages and helps search engines find and index your content. Search engine crawlers use the sitemap to understand your site’s structure, which can improve how your pages appear in search results. When you host your account with Qurioos, we can automatically generate a sitemap for you, or you can provide your own custom version.

How it works

  • The sitemap is created in XML format and is available at: yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml
  • Each time your account is updated, the sitemap is refreshed.
  • If you have multiple languages or regional versions, the sitemap can include hreflang tags to help search engines understand the variations.

Request a generated sitemap

If you’d like us to generate your sitemap:

  1. Email support@qurioos.com with your request.
  2. We’ll set it up for your account and confirm once it’s live.

Important:
Make sure you’ve set a default domain for your account, as the sitemap will always reflect the default domain’s URLs.

Request a custom sitemap

If you prefer to use your own sitemap:

  1. Create your custom sitemap.xml file.
  2. Email it to support@qurioos.com along with instructions to replace the existing sitemap.
  3. We’ll upload it to your domain for you.

Note:
If your account supports multiple languages, you’ll need to add hreflang tags manually to your custom sitemap.

Robots.txt integration

By default, Qurioos will add your sitemap URL to your robots.txt file so search engines can find it. If you want to remove this or reference a different sitemap, let our support team know.

Submitting your sitemap to Google

Once your sitemap is ready, you can submit it to Google Search Console to help speed up indexing:

  1. Open Google Search Console ↗.
  2. Choose the property (website) you want to submit the sitemap for.
  3. In the “Add a new sitemap” field, type sitemap.xml.
  4. Click Submit.

Good to know:
Google may still discover your content from other links, but submitting your sitemap ensures they know about all your important pages right away.
